5 Beautiful Places to Visit During the Autumn Season In Pakistan

The Autumn season in Pakistan brings a vibrant change of colours in the country. Every year in October, the trees turn yellow, the skies blue, and the Earth is covered with a yellow sheet of crunchy dead leaves. The air is cooler as the temperatures drop during this season. So, if you are tired of staying indoors because of the crazy summer heat, autumn brings relief for you. 

It is the best season for outdoor activities as the temperatures are just perfect, not too hot nor too cold.

However, if you want to enjoy the true colours of autumn, city life may not provide you with the best views unless you are living in Islamabad. Hunza Valley: 

Hunza Valley is situated at an elevation of 2348 meters in the north of Gilgit Baltistan. It used to be a princely state till 1974. Hunza is divided into three parts: upper Hunza, central Hunza and lower Hunza. It is called heaven on Earth as it is surrounded by lush green scenery and the highest of the mountains. 

The Autumn season in Hunza starts in October and lasts till November. The lush green fields turn yellow and red, adding more colour to the entire view of the valley. That is why Hunza is one of the most beautiful places to visit in this season. If you are a nature enthusiast or a photographer looking for stunning landscapes, Hunza, in autumn, is your type of place. 

Hunza is one of the main tourist attractions in Pakistan. However, the number of international tourists visiting Hunza almost doubled in the fall (autumn) season. Shogran: 

Shogran is a hill station located in the northern part of Pakistan. It is 34 km away from Balakot and comes under the province of KPK. Shogran has beautiful trekking planes covered in breathtaking views all around. 

Places to visit in Shogran:

Shogran has two lakes: Siri Lake and Paye Lake. These lakes are only accessible on jeeps by trekking. However, in autumn, you can only visit the lakes by jeep. 

Right before winter, Shogran becomes the epitome of autumn with yellow and brownfields. In winter, however, the hill station is covered in a white sheet of snow.  

Azad Kashmir: 

Azad Kashmir shares its borders with the Indian-occupied state of Jammu and Kashmir. During Partition in 1947, more than half of Kashmir was taken over by India.The part of Kashmir which Pakistan has is self-governed and is known as Azad Jammu and Kashmir. 

During the autumn season in Pakistan, Kashmir and its valleys are covered in the vibrant shade of red. It is also referred to as Red Earth in autumn. So much so that it looks like it is on fire. The valleys of Kashmir, such as Neelum and Aarang Kel, have trees like Maple, Oak, and Chinar, which burst into vibrant colours of red, orange and yellow. Under the clear blue skies, the Kashmiri land spits shades of autumn, giving a stunning view of its valleys. Fairy Meadows, Gilgit Baltistan:

Fairy Meadows is located at the base camp of Nanga Parbat in Gilgit. It was named “fairy Meadows” by some German climbers and is locally known as Joot. In 1994, the government declared Fairy Meadows a national park. 

Fairy Meadows is around 3300 meters above sea level and serves breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Fairy Meadows is a vast field covered with beautiful green orchards. Autumn in Fairy Meadows starts in full swing by the 3rd week of October. By then, a sheet of autumn colours takes over the field, which blends perfectly with the clear blue skies and the white snow-covered peaks of Nanga Parbat.  

If you travel to fairy meadows in the autumn season, there is a high chance that you will find fewer crowds of people hoarding the place. It can give you plenty of time to take unimaginably beautiful pictures of these scenic views. 

Deosai National Park, Gilgit Baltistan:

Deosai National Park is located in Gilgit. It is a high-altitude Alpine Plateau. Alpine or Alpine climate is a high-altitude climate where trees cannot grow. There are no trees in Deosai National Park, which is why it is a Plateau. 

Apart from being a plateau, Deosai National Park is a habitat for local wildlife like Himalayan brown bears, Ibex and Snow leopards. Deosai National Park was established in 1993 in an effort to protect the Himalayan brown bear from extinction. The action was fruitful, and by 2022, the number of these bears had increased from 19 to 98. 

In autumn, it seems as if a blanket of red, yellow and orange has covered the plain. It is a fantastic place to visit if you have an interest in wildlife. If you are lucky enough, there might be some Himalayan brown bears wandering around, adding beauty to the beautiful landscapes of Gilgit.
